Dental Implants.
This procedure is a permanent solution of fixing severely damaged or missing teeth. When damage to a tooth goes all the way down to the root or the root is missing, this is when a dental implant is needed. To determine if a dental implant is right for you, the bones around the area of the potential implant will be examined carefully to ensure that they are strong enough to sustain an implant.
The implant serves as a replacement tooth root and is inserted in the area in which there are missing tooth roots. The implant takes place of just the tooth root, but is then paired with a crown (a cap that will look like your tooth) or bridge (two or more crowns) to take the place of the missing tooth/teeth. After the implant is inserted, a temporary crown or bridge will be placed to allow the implant time to bond to the bone that it is fixed to. Once the implant is bonded to the bone, an abutment is used to connect the dental implant to the permanent, custom-made crown or bridge (replacement tooth or teeth).

Typically, dental implants are done throughout several appointments. This will allow our dentist to examine your mouth and talk you through the process making sure that if you have any questions, that they are answered thoroughly. Many people can find dental procedures like this scary, but at Wood Dale Dental we make this process as painless and easy as possible. With the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas), we can put your mind at ease during the procedure to help you feel more comfortable.
Dental implants will help you to go about life normally, not having to worry about your teeth. By getting dental implants your speech and eating habits will be unaffected, unlike with dentures, where it can sometimes be difficult to chew and they can affect your speech. We want you to feel confident with your smile and function at your best.
