Full Dentures
Full Dentures.
When you have lost all of your teeth, whether it is from periodontal disease, damage to your teeth, or an accident, we are here to fit you with dentures that work. The first step in getting full dentures is for an acrylic base to be constructed to match your gums. Then, natural looking teeth are fitted into the gums. Your dentist will provide you with high-quality dentures that will make you feel comfortable and look natural.
The upper denture has a plate that covers the roof of your mouth, while the lower dentures just rest along the gum. When you get dentures, you will be able to eat and speak better, even though it may be an adjustment. Even with dentures, practicing good oral hygiene is important in keeping your mouth and gums healthy. Our dentist may ask for several follow-ups after full dentures are given to make sure everything is going smoothly and address any concerns you might have at that time. |
Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures.
When you are missing teeth, it can change the way you speak and the way you eat, making everyday life difficult. By filling in the missing gaps with partial dentures, you give your mouth the support it needs to avoid sagging in the face. When there are large gaps from missing teeth, it can affect the whole mouth including the cheeks, lips and jaws which is can be fixed through the introduction of partial dentures.
Based on the dentist recommendation, a crown or partial denture is recommended to fix missing teeth. Both are good options in filling gaps but depending on the overall structure, the dentist will discuss which would work best for you. Please see our section on crowns to learn more about that option or consult a dentist at Wood Dale Dental. Similar to full dentures, an acrylic base is used that matches the color of your gums and replacement teeth are fixed into it. However, unlike full dentures, metal or composite resin is used to clasp on to remaining natural teeth and provide support along the bottom of gums. The metal or composite resin is used to keep the dentures in place. Your dentist will talk with you about the best option for your teeth and how to maintain proper care of your partial denture. *Metal free partial dentures are available at Wood Dale Dental. This option is made of composite resin, which is a good solution for anyone dealing with a metal allergy. |
Implant Overdentures
Implant Overdentures.
The implant overdenture rests on your gums to provide you with a natural looking smile. Overdentures can be a more sturdy option than full dentures because it uses dental implants as an anchor to keep the denture in place. The dental implants, or screws that are fused to jaw bone, are what the overdenture is secured to. Some people get very worried about full dentures falling out of place while talking or eating, implant overdentures give you the protection knowing that your dentures are firmly in place.
With implant overdentures, you can forget about the cost of adhesives to keep them in place as the dental implant takes its place. The implant overdenture is removable, allowing you to snap them in and out of place when you go to sleep at night. Our dentist does everything to provide you with the best options and to understand what would work best with your lifestyle. |
All-on-4 restorations (full arch dentition on 4 implants)
All-On-4 Restorations.
This option provides you with four dental implants, instead of having to get a dental implant for all of your missing teeth, you only get them in four places along the jaw. A dental implant consists of a screw that is fused into your jawbone and replaces a missing tooth root. The four screws are then placed to allow one full arch of dentures to connect to the screws.
This option allows a more permanent solution to missing teeth, not having to remove them at any point. The all-on-4 restoration is a comfortable solution because they don’t press down on your gums. There would be no worries of them slipping out while eating or talking as they wouldn’t be removable. The teeth will look and feel natural giving you the comfort of a natural looking smile. To decide if this option is right for you, the dentist will meet with you to examine your mouth and determine what would work best for you. |
